BLANEY LOOKING TO ADD TO ALL STAR WIN LIST AT UNOH SPRINTACULAR

Travelling All Star Troupe Joins NRA Sprint Invaders and Stock Cars in Saturday Tripleheader

ROSSBURG, OH (Oct. 9) – He may not be able to capture a championship title Saturday evening when the All Star Sprints return to Eldora Speedway for the UNOH (University of Northwestern Ohio) Sprintacular, but Dale Blaney can gain valuable ground within a couple of win lists.  The All Stars will join the NRA (National Racing Alliance) Sprint Invaders and Eldora Stock Cars for a tripleheader program kicking off at 6 p.m. this Saturday night.

Blaney, coined ‘the low rider’ based upon his driving style, is currently in a tie for 4th place on Eldora’s win list for All Star Sprints with 6 victories.   In overall All Star Sprints history, the Hartford, Ohio charger has 93 victories to sit just five short of Kenny Jacobs’ 98 list leading wins.

A victory Saturday, something he has accomplished each of the past three years at Eldora, would inch the three-time All Star Sprints champion into a tie for 3rd place at Eldora and closer to knocking Jacobs off the top.

REMINDER: Hot laps will be 4:30 P.M. and heat races at 6:00 P.M. for this event.

Tim Shaffer will roll into Saturday’s action with a virtual lock on capturing his fourth consecutive All Star Sprint title, but that isn’t satisfying enough for the Aliquippa, PA veteran.  Shaffer has yet to capture an All Star Sprint feature event on Eldora’s legendary .500-mile clay oval.

To date there have been 131 completed All Star Sprint events at Eldora, the most of any speedway visited by the touring series, with 41 different drivers visiting victory lane.

For the NRA Sprint Invaders, 2012 champion Randy Hannagan will be completing an amazing season at Eldora.   The Pittsboro, IN chauffeur captured three of the four NRA Eldora runs thus far in 2012 to give him 5 NRA career wins at Eldora, which ironically ties him with Blaney for 6th on the win list.  Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion, and Eldora owner, Tony Stewart stopped Hannagan’s win streak at three, when he captured the most recent NRA run.

Wrapping up the action will be a spirited battle for the Eldora Stock Car title.   Barney Craig comes into the chase with a slim six-point margin over Shawn Phillippi.
