Gover HD, located in nearby Piqua, will also be spearheading a Harley Fun Run on July 25 - with the final destination being Eldora Speedway. The 25th is a racing night featuring the Subway 50 for World of Outlaws Late Models!

Countdown to the Green - in Greenville

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Opening night of any racing season is always exciting, and 2008 at Eldora Speedway will be no exception. So excited are we, that we will be participating in a special ‘Countdown to the Green’, starting Friday night, April 4.

From 5:00 – 7:00, defending USAC National Sprint Champion Levi Jones will be on hand with his Tony Stewart Racing owned non-winged Sprint Car at Ron Garrett Chevrolet on Russ Road, to sign autographs and talk to the race fans. Local radio station WTGR will be involved, as well, with a live remote.

Following the Garrett display, the action will move across the road to Tail Gators Sports Bar & Grill. Jones will be joined by several other drivers that will be participating in Eldora’s April 5 opening tripleheader, in a fun-filled ‘meet and greet’ session. An emcee will chat with the drivers from 7:00 to 9:00 to talk about their 2008 plans, racing videos will shown on Tail Gators’ big screen, and trivia questions will be asked for valuable door prizes.

On Saturday afternoon, long-time Eldora sponsor Advance Auto Parts, will continue the gigantic ‘countdown’ with a race car display in their parking lot. WTGR will join this display with yet another live remote to pump up the racing fever in Darke County.

All of the events promise to be a good time, and excellent opportunity to chat with the drivers away from the pressures of race day.

New Admission Gate Areas

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

In an effort to facilitate better entry into Eldora Speedway’s events, track officials have been busy during the off-season with improvements to the two general admission gate areas.

The Main Gate ticket booth has been enlarged; with the number of ticket purchase windows increased to six. With the new design the ticket purchase system has been revamped as well. For as long as race fans can remember, the system at Eldora was to first purchase your General Admission (GA) tickets in one line and then, if you wanted a Reserved seat, you had to stand in another line to complete that process. No more. The purchase of GA and Reserved seat tickets will be done at one time, outside the gate, at the properly marked ticket windows.

Additionally, there will be a clearly marked Will Call window, and a GA window, for those not desiring Reserved seats. Other than the major events, during the early part of the evening, the South side of the Main Gate area will be closed, with all entry into the Speedway through the North side doors. The mandatory Cooler and Package Check Point will be stationed on the North side for all events, as well.

At the Middle Gate, a shelter building has been erected, with multiple gates to clearly identify the entrance paths and ease the former congestion at that area. The mandatory Cooler and Package Check Point will be on the far left as you enter, with 4’ wide aisles allowing easy access. Just a word of caution, though – the Middle Gate offers General Admission tickets and Pit Passes (if of proper age), but does not sell Reserved seat tickets. ALL Reserved seat ticket purchase must be completed at the Main Gate.

Each gate will have clearly marked signage.

Prelude Ticket Sales

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Old Spice Prelude to the Dream ticket sales kicked off Saturday morning at Eldora. While the vast majority of fans purchased tickets online and over the phone, these folks took their chances in the risky blizzard conditions and made the trek to the Speedway. It was, no doubt, a very tedious drive home for most.
