Summer Smith, daughter to Steve Smith and sister to Stevie Smith was shot and killed Friday as she and her fiancee were robbed at gun point on a highway outside of Putnam County in Florida. An investigation is ongoing as the search for her killer continues this week.
Summer accompanied her dad and brother to sprint car races on many occasions, and will be missed by all. The entire staff at Eldora Speedway offers their condolences to the Smith family as they work through this difficult time.
14th Annual Evening for Race Fans The Celina-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce NASCAR driver and two time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip will be the featured guest at their 14th Annual Evening for Race Fans. Each year this event provides race fans a great evening of entertainment and is also an important fundraiser for the Chamber and State of the Heart Hospice.
The event will take place on Friday, December 12th at Romer’s Catering and Banquet Facility in St. Henry, Ohio. The doors will open at 5:00.The evening includes an autograph session, a buffet style dinner, interviews with Michael Waltrip and other racing personalities. Mike King of the Indy Radio Network will serve as master of ceremonies.

INEX sanctioned Legend Cars have been added to the schedule for October 11th. They will join the NRA Sprint Cars, 305 Sprint Cars, and Stock Cars. Adult admission is just $15.00 for this last race of 2008!

Bruce Gould, winner of the first-ever World 100, passed away August 9, 2008 - at age 68. Our sincerest sympathy to the entire family. Friends and family are welcome 5:00 -9:00 pm, Wednesday; with funeral service, 10:00 am, Thursday - all at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home and Crematory, Milford.

Robby Gordon, driver of the #7 Jim Beam Dodge on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit, has been added to the driver list in the 4th annual Old Spice Prelude to the Dream. Even more interesting, Gordon will be piloting a car owned and prepared by veteran late model racer Scott Bloomquist.
