RACE EVENT: Hot Laps

Status: COMPLETE (first session before rains) Time: 7:13 pm Drivers are put into hot laps groups based on where they are located in the pit areas at Eldora. This is the quickest and most efficient way to get through each of the hot lap sessions... * Chris Conley could not get the motor fired for hot lap session 2 * Don O'Neal coasted to the pit area during hot lap session 2 * Justin Shaw slapped the turn one wall in hot lap session 4. Looks to have right front suspension damage. * Problems for Brady Smith and Dan Schlieper in their hot lap sessions * John Mason, Jeff Byers, and Shane Riner all had problems and did not finish their hot lap sessions. * Bill Williams slapped the turn three wall in the final hot lap session and suffered front end damage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status: COMPLETE (second session) Time: 10:26 pm * Jackie Boggs slowed on the backstretch in hot lap session 5. He coasted to the infield after bringing out the yellow.

 

RACE EVENT: Qualifications
Status: COMPLETE Time: 11:37 pm * Drivers receive two rounds of qualifying - one lap each * 8:34 pm - Qualifying has been temporarily halted by order of the Darke County Sherriff Department in order to allow everyone to seek shelter as a preventative measure in case the storm hits. Severe storm warnings in the area have been issued. As of this time, it has not rained at the Speedway, but we must wait out the extreme high winds... More soon... * 8:52 pm - With 22 cars left to qualify, we are still on hold. It is still very, very windy. More information as we receive it.. * 9:05 pm - A quick rain shower following the front has wrecked havoc on round one qualifying. The rain and severe front has passed and storm warning has expired - but we will be forced to run the track back in - which means round one qualifying must restart from the beginning. Thankfully, the most severe part of the storm passed just north of the Speedway across the county line... Push trucks are lining up on the pit apron and will hit the track soon... * 9:17 pm - Push trucks are now on the Speedway. This will not be a long delay; the track is coming back in fairly quickly. We should be back to qualifying by 10:00. * 9:24 pm - Scott James is one driver who is extremely happy that qualifying will be restarted. James was the driver out qualifying when action was halted because of weather. Winds came through so strong it was difficult to even see the #83 car going down the backstretch due to dust flying from the parking lots and area fields.... The track continues to come around quickly... * 9:45 pm - The trucks have been pulled and we're going get the cars back on the track in just a few minutes. The cars will go through a quick hot lap session since the track has changed so drastically - then we will go into round one qualifying. * 10:31 pm - Hot laps are complete; round one is underway. ***Due to the weather related issues this evening, round two qualifying has been scrapped. Round one times will go on the books as official. ***
