MOPAR Million Entires Mailed
ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 2) -- Sprint car teams around the nation are anxiously checking their mail boxes - and rightfully so. Entry forms for the unprecedented September 19 & 20 MOPAR Million Sprint at Eldora were mailed this week from the Eldora Speedway offices.
One million dollars in prize money will be on the line for the two-day event, which carries special event status with the United States Auto Club (USAC). It is the distribution of money that has piqued Sprint interest on a national scale.
Capturing the 40-lap main event for non-winged Sprint cars will reward the winner with $200,000, while just making it into the 26-car field will be worth $10,000.
Looking deeper into the payoff structure reveals that even if 150 cars were to enter the event, the last place team would receive $550 for their weekends efforts.
In keeping with his respected policy, Eldora Speedway promoter Earl Baltes has kept the entry fee for the coveted MOPAR Million reasonable. Entries field prior to June 2, 2003 are charged at $50, while entries received past that date are $100.
Baltes admits that he has no idea what to expect entry-wise for this, the highest payoff ever in Sprint Car history, but has indicated on the entry blank that the number of entries may be limited.
Reserved seats for the unique two-day race meet are available by contacting the track office at 937.338.3815.
