ELDORA DISHING OUT MONEY

ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 11) -- Money, lots of money, will be up for grabs within a 30-day period as Eldora Speedway shifts its 2005 slate of events into high gear, beginning with this weekend’s (July 15 & 16) 22nd annual Kings Royal.

Over $500,000 in prize money is on the line through August 17, with the bulk of it geared towards Sprint Car racing and varying sanctioning bodies.

Two nights of World of Outlaw (WoO) racing kick off Eldora’s ‘month of money’ with the Kings Royal Friday and Saturday. Friday’s program, the Knight Before the Kings Royal will see a winner’s share of $10,000, while Saturday’s fabled Kings Royal has $50,000 on the line for the event victor.

Each night will also see complete programs for the 360 Sprints of the National Racing Alliance (NRA), including Friday’s tribute to Jimmy Johnston.

After two weeks off, the one-half mile clay oval swings back into action for three consecutive nights (August 4 - 6) as part of the Mopar sponsored Weekend of Thunder, with a smorgasbord of racing activity.

Thursday night’s menu includes the All Star Sprints with their $5,000 to win program, along with the United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) Modifieds and Eldora Stocks, while Friday features the final 2005 appearance of the WoO warriors in a $10,000 to win finale. The Sunoco sponsored American Late Model Series (ALMS) is included in the Friday doubleheader.

Saturday (August 6) will see the aerodynamic top wings come off the Sprints, as the United States Auto Club (USAC) sanctions the rich Mopar Thunder #2. A staggering $166,000 one-day payoff is featured, with $50,000 earmarked for the winner, and $2,000 guaranteed to all main event starters.

Completing the impressive month of action will be a special Wednesday night (August 17) race meet for the NRA which will include NASCAR stars Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney in competition as part of the Old Spice Sprint Sizzler.
