OLLIE’S
360 CHALLENGE ADDS TO ELDORA’S DIVERSITY; ENTRY FORMS
AVAILABLE
ROSSBURG, OH (April 22) – Eldora Speedway has been an
advocate of 360 Sprint Car racing since these winged cars made
their introduction to the Ohio racing scene in 1994. The recently
announced Ollie’s 360 Challenge, and Eldora’s participation
in the rich event, affirms that enthusiasm and support.
Set for Tuesday night, July 8, the highest 360 Sprint Car payoff
in Eldora’s storied history will be on the line. The event
has already attracted NASCAR stars Dave Blaney, Kasey Kahne
and Tony Stewart as entrants, and is expected to entice the
sprinters in the Nation.
A hefty $6,000 paycheck awaits the victor of the 30-lap, 24-car
chase around Eldora’s high banked one-half mile clay oval
that night; but more importantly it could equate to an additional
$50,000 payday.
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, the driving force behind this
unique event that partners three of the Nation’s leading
dirt speedways, has posted a $50,000 bonus for any driver winning
two of the three feature events. Sharon Speedway (Hartford,
OH) kicks off the Ollie’s 360 Challenge on Wednesday,
June 17 prior to Eldora’s (Rossburg, OH) July 8 engagement
and then the series concludes on Tuesday, August 19 at Williams
Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, PA).
Drama will undoubtedly be in the air on July 8. “Effectively,
the $50,000 bonus could be won that night, IF the Sharon winner
doubles up”, commented two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion
Stewart, who is also the Eldora Speedway owner. “Even
if it (the bonus) isn’t won that night, it will set the
stage for Williams Grove”.
Stewart’s passion for open wheel racing is unparalleled
and he is anxious for this 360 Sprint Car showcase event. He
continues, “there is a need and place for every division
in auto racing, and we are proud that Eldora plays a big role
in this diversity by offering major events for all of them.”
The three facilities have collaborated on a universal set of
car specifications for the Ollie’s 360 Challenge, which
will open the door to 360 Sprint Car teams and sanctioning bodies
from around the Nation and Canada. Entrants may review the specs
online at www.eldoraspeedway.com where they can download an
Eldora Speedway entry form as well. Early entry in the Eldora
leg of the Ollie’s 360 Challenge can result in substantial
savings for the teams.
Assisting Eldora officials with the tech compliance July 8 will
be officials from the National Racing Alliance (NRA) Sprint
Invaders. Headed up by Dr. Jeff Jarvis, the NRA sanctions multiple
events at Eldora, as well as throughout Ohio and Michigan. Jarvis
comments, “we at NRA are enthusiastic to work together
with the other sanctioning bodies and know that this is an excellent
opportunity to showcase 360 Sprint Car racing and the talents
of our drivers.”
