WORLD
100 ENTRY SLIGHTLY REVISED
ROSSBURG, OH (August 14) – Taking into
consideration the escalating travel costs, for fans and racers
alike, along with the desire to provide the best racing experience
possible, track owner Tony Stewart and his Eldora Speedway staff
have announced a slight revision to the previously released
entry blank for this year’s 38th annual running of the
World 100, September 5 and 6.
Under revision is the ‘one car/one driver’
rule.
Effective with this year’s running of
the famed event, all competitors will be afforded the opportunity
to use a second car, under specified conditions. This adjustment
would open the door for every driver to at least attempt to
qualify for the World 100 and give their respective fans the
opportunity to see them on the track for a time trial attempt
and resulting entry into either a Friday night non-qualifying
event or Saturday qualifying heat race.
Unlike previous years, if a driver crashes
during the crucial Friday hot lap session and receives sufficient
damage to negate any attempt for a time trial run, he or she
can move to a second car. However, the second car must not have
been previously on the racing surface that night and must be
presented to the tech officials for inspection, and approved,
prior to the first round time trial run. There will be no allowance
for any additional practice laps prior to that time trial effort.
Entry information for the World 100, considered
to be a benchmark in Late Model racing, is available on Eldora’s
website, www.eldoraspeedway.com.
