MODIFIEDS
TO SEE 46% INCREASE AT MOSER UMP NATIONALS
ROSSBURG,
OH (Sept. 12) -- When the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters)
Modifieds duel it out for their National Championship title
over the weekend of October 3 and 4 at Eldora Speedway, they
will have substantially more money on the line than in previous
years. With the support of event sponsor Moser Engineering,
of nearby Portland, IN, the 2008 prize money for the open wheeled
Modifieds will see a 46% increase over last year. While the
winner's share will remain at $3,000 to win, the feature start
money has been doubled from $150 to $300.
"We
have been following the growth of the Modified class for a long
time", commented Moser's Kip Hayden, "and welcome
the opportunity to support their efforts. We are only testing
the waters with this year's participation in the Moser UMP Nationals.
If the racers support this new concept, we can only imagine
where this could lead to."
Additionally,
Hayden and Shane St. Meyers, another Moser representative, have
been working hand in hand with multiple vendors to create a
product showcase for the Moser UMP Nationals, and will have
product awards/certificates for a good portion of the Modified
main event starters.
Joining
Moser in rewarding the Modified class will be Larry Shaw Race
Cars, who has posted a $1,000 cash prize to the fastests overall
qualifier for the event.
While
the Modified class has seen a significant increase, the Late
Model portion of the Moser UMP Nationals will undergo a payoff
change as well. The overall prize money has seen a modest increase,
but most importantly the money has been spread out more evenly.
In the
past, the payoff was favorable primarily to the winner, at $10,000,
with a substantial drop off to second, third and beyond. The
new structure will see a $5,000 payday for the 40-lap Late Model
main event winner, while second has been increased to $3,500
and the spread between positions is much more equitable.
With the
UMP National titles on the line, Friday (October 3) will see
time trial runs for the Modified and Late Model classes, along
with the qualifying heat races for the Modifieds, and Race of
Champions for both classes. Saturday's (October 4) program will
consist of qualifying heats for the Late Models, B-Mains for
both divisions and the headlining main events - 25 laps for
the Modifieds and 40 laps for the Late Models.
Established
in 1982 by drag racing standout Greg Moser, Moser Engineering
has become the industry leader in quality rear-end components
through a solid business plan and a company-wide goal of meeting
their customer's expectations.
