HURRICANE
IKE SPARES ELDORA; AMERICAN REVOLUTION 4 CROWN INTACT
ROSSBURG,
OH (Sept. 16) -- Hurricane Ike must have been a race fan. Unlike
most of the torrential storms that batter the coast lines and
fizzle out as they travel North, Hurricane Ike continued to
whallop a punch right through Ohio on Sunday, with repeated
wind gusts in excess of 75 miles per hour.
The end
result was downed trees and loss of electricity to nearly two
million customers statewide.
Eldora
Speedway was fortunate to escape with minimal damage and has
announced that all systems are go for this weekend's (Sept.
19 & 20) An American Revolution 4 Crown Nationals.
Multiple
billboards were dislodged from the front stretch wall and tossed
around like confetti, several seat boards were blown from the
bleachers and trash barrells were rolling everywhere, but other
than that, everything else remained intact. Electricity was
restored within three hours.
Eldora's
diligent crew has repaired all of the damage and now moves forward
to the task at hand; race weekend.
And a
major weekend it is, with the travelling World of Outlaws (WoO)
making their final Midwestern appearance on Friday night, while
the non-winged fraternity of USAC (United States Auto Club)
invades on Saturday with their Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown
divisions.
