ENTERS ELDORA CHASE FULL OF CONFIDENCE
ROSSBURG,
OH (Sept. 18) -- Whenever Jac Haudenschild enters a race at
Eldora Speedway, he appears to be in his comfort zone, and with
his recent run of successes along the rugged World of Outlaw
(WoO) Sprint Car trail, he is eagerly awaiting Friday night's
(Sept. 19) WoO final 2008 attack of Eldora.
The Wooster,
OH veteran has become affectionately nicknamed 'the wild child'
for his aggressive on track driving style and ability to get
more than 100% out of even an ill-handling race car. He likes
to go fast and Eldora's one-half mile clay oval is the place
to do that, with its steeply banked and wide sweeping turns.
Eldora is without a doubt one of the fastest 'momentum' tracks
along the WoO travels.
Haudenschild's
record speaks for itself. With over 150 Eldora feature starts
on his resume, he has finished amongst the top five 79 times;
and of those finishes, 23 were victories.
The type
of car driven doesn't matter to Jac. If it is an open wheeled
Sprint Car, wing or non-winged, it doesn't matter. His 23 wins
back that up. Eight of his checkered flags have come under WoO
eyes, while seven were accomplished under the All Star Circuit
of Champions banner and three were Eldora promoted events. The
balance, 5, were with the top mounted aerodynamic wing off,
and under the auspices of USAC (United States Auto Club), including
a treasured triumph in the fabled Mopar Million in 2003, where
Haudenschild walked off with $200,000 in prize money.
The big
Eldora wins weren't limited to the Mopar Million for Jac. He
is a three-time $50,000 Kings Royal champion (1987, 1994, 1998)
and captured the inaugrual Historical Big One in 1993, when
he captured $100,000 for his efforts.
It has
been somewhat of a dry spell for Haudenschild at Eldora and
he is hungry. His last checkered flag came in April of 2006
when he drove the Rick Wright owned machine to victory in an
All Star race. But his recent WoO run has his hopes high. He
has captured two of the past three WoO events, including a stunning
$50,000 victory in California at the prestigious Gold Cup.
Behind
the wheel of the Carnahan Motorsports entry, Haudenschild enters
Eldora's WoO chase, the final Midwestern race of the year for
the touring group, 6th in the cumulative points race. A consistent
season of 3 wins, 18 finishes amongst the top five and 40 amongst
the top ten has placed him there.
Friday
night Jac is anxious to move that win total to four and a combination
of his ability, confidence and admitted love for Eldora could
see that job accomplished.
Joining
the WoO teams on Friday night, the first of two nights for the
Chevrolet sponsored An American Revolution 4 Crown Nationals
will be the antique race cars from VARC (Vintage American Racing
Club). Saturday's action will see the wings removed for a USAC
tripleheader of Midgets, Sprints and Silver Crown cars.
