TEAM
CHEVY 4 CROWN WEEKEND OFFERS A LOOK BACK
ROSSBURG, OH (Sept.
18) – As has become customary with the annual running
of the Team Chevy 4 Crown weekend at Eldora Speedway, members
of the Vintage American Racing Club (VARC) will offer race
fans a look at yesteryear.
The look goes far
more than just a static display of antique race cars. VARC
members will be given track time on Friday night, September
25, in conjunction with the World of Outlaws (WoO) program
that constitutes crown #1 of the 29th annual running of the
4 Crown chase.
In accordance to
the VARC mission of keeping racing of the past in the public
eye, in a safe and entertaining environment, the owners of
the restored vehicles will be spilt into groups and be given
controlled racing time on the historic one-half mile Eldora
clay oval.
With a busy day
of USAC (United States Auto Club) Midget, Sprint and Silver
Crown racing on Saturday (Sept. 26) to compete for crowns
#2 - 4, the VARC cars – open wheeled and full bodied
– will remain on display in Eldora’s trade show
area. The VARC members will continue their mission that day,
by educating the veteran race fans about the earlier years
of racing.
Always, the biggest
turnout of the year for VARC, the Eldora display offers race
goers the chance to witness first hand the advancements that
have been made in racing – both in performance and safety.
The Team Chevy
4 Crown weekend began in 1981 to showcase the 3 premier divisions
of USAC open wheeled racing, with the fourth crown varying
year to year. The past two years has seen that distinction
going to the WoO winged Sprints, allowing the fans an all
open-wheel weekend.
Each night features
a full program of racing, with the WoO group on Friday, followed
by Saturday’s USAC invasion.
Complete information,
including pricing and time schedules, are detailed on the
track’s website, www.eldoraspeedway.com.
