DIRT
LATE MODEL HALL OF FAME 2011 INDUCTEES TO BE ANNOUNCED AT
WORLD 100
ROSSBURG,
OH (August 16) – Eldora Speedway’s pre-race
festivities for the 40th annual running of the World 100
continue to gain momentum and importance. Bill Holder, Executive
Director of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame has
announced that the 2011 Hall of Fame Class will be revealed
just prior to the command to start the World 100 qualifying
heat races on Saturday, September 11.
“We are excited about this opportunity to introduce
the 2011 inductees at the World 100, one of the Nation’s
premier dirt Late Model events”, cited Holder. “We
are also grateful to Carl Short and his Dirt Track World
Championships (DTWC). Over the past several years, we have
made the Hall of Fame class announcements at the DTWC, but
Carl was gracious in allowing us to move this year’s
revelation to Eldora in conjunction with the milestone 40th
anniversary of the World 100.”
Making the announcements from the revered Eldora victory
lane stage along with Holder will be Induction Director
Robert Markos and board member Chris Tilley. As has become
tradition, the 2011 Hall of Fame Class will include six
drivers who have achieved greatness and legendary status
among the dirt Late Model world. Two persons who have contributed
to the sport will be inducted, as will the coveted Sportsman
of the Year nominee. Entry into the Hall of Fame is voted
upon by members of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of
Fame Executive Board.
The Hall of Fame is housed on the grounds of Florence (KY)
Speedway, and continuing a steep ritual, the 2011 Class
will be formally inducted during pre-race ceremonies leading
up to the renowned North South 100 in August of 2011.
