9/08/03: The final
page of photos have been added to the Gallery. Click here to go
to the Photo
Gallery. This will be the last update of the year for the
WORLD 100 section. Eldora Speedway sits empty once again, but
not for long, as the Mopar Million Sprint at Eldora is less than
two weeks away. Just as the Late Model race two years ago, the
sprint cars get their turn at one million dollars on September
19th and 20th. If you're interested in following this historic
race, please click
here.
9/06/03: Another
historic WORLD 100 is in the record books. Click the 'Updates'
link located above for the complete rundown from the entire weekend.
Check back over the next few days for the addition of new photo
pages.
9/06/03: Welcome
back to the 'online version' of the grand daddy of dirt late model
racing, the Famous WORLD 100! A great crowd is already on hand,
as the driver autograph session is underway. The pit area is full
and top 120 cars from last night are back and ready to go with
six heat races. Drivers finishing 1st through 3rd in the heat
races will transfer to the WORLD 100 tonight, while those finishing
4th through 7th will transfer to the B-feature. Drivers finishing
outside the top seven do not transfer on and are finished for
the night....This will be the last update on this page for
the evening. All updates will now be posted in the LIVE updates
section. If you aren't going to make it to the track tonight,
feel free to join us by clicking the link above!
9/06/03: It was
a great night of dirt late model action at the Eldora Speedway
on Friday night. A whopping 222 cars turned out for the 33rd edition
of the Famous WORLD 100. Apologies go out to everyone who tried
to view the LIVE updates on Friday, as there's a good chance you
didn't see much. The traffic on the website was so heavy that
the server just couldn't handle the load, especially after the
10:00 hour. . All updates were archived however, and can be viewed
by clicking the link above this box. Heat race lineups are also
posted on the updates page. This is the last update for the WORLD
100 section until Saturday afternoon, so get some rest and be
ready to join us again tomorrow evening as we will crown another
WORLD 100 champion!
9/05/03: We have
reached the 4:00 deadline for entries at the World 100. An astounding
222 drivers are entered and have drawn pill numbers for tonight.
The weather is beautiful and fans are beginning to migrate into
the speedway for tonight's qualifying and last chance races...
PLEASE NOTE: This page will not be updated again until after the
completion of the races. HOWEVER, we are now posting LIVE! in
the "Updates and Results" page. To following the action
from Eldora Speedway, click the link located above!
9/04/03: Teams
were parked in the pit area around 2:00 today, just prior to tech-in.
143 cars went through tech-inspection before darkness set in.
The remainder of the cars will be inspected Friday morning at
9:00....A new page of photos from Thursday tech inspection are
now posted here....
Just a reminder for those of you who can't join us for the fun
this weekend --- we will have live updates for you on Friday and
Saturday. Just click the link above this box to view them.
9/03/03: What has
become more of an event in itself that past few years, the hillside
was opened this morning for lawn chairs and caution tape. After
just ten minutes, the caution tape stretched all the way around
to turn the start of turn two. More driver rigs pulled in this
morning as well, including the Tony Stewart Motorsports #20 driven
by Steve Barnett and the Jeep VanWormer #55.... The far northeast
camping lot remains wet and smeary, as it is still in the drying
out stage from the rains. Fans planning on camping in that lot
are still encouraged to hold off on their arrival until Thursday....
3 new photos have been posted from this morning...
9/02/03: The major
rains have finally moved out of the area, and the Eldora area
is beginning to dry out Tuesday afternoon. The only camping lot
affected by the rains was the northeast lot, which remains
muddy (see pic below) following the rain. Fans planning on camping
in this lot are encouraged to hold off on their arrival until
Thursday, to allow the lot to dry. The lot is still passable and
can accommodate campers at this time, but will be very smeary
for the next 24 to 48 hours.
Just a few more reminders for the upcoming week...
Golf carts are permitted on the Eldora grounds, but we ask that
they be parked from 1:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.... Also keep in mind
that no caution tape or chairs may be placed in the grassy areas
or hillside until Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m.... Showers are
located behind the middle barn to the north of the track and are
open 24 hours....
Finally, a few race stats for your reading enjoyment...
So far this season, Darrell Lanigan has led 129 laps of late model
racing action at the Eldora Speedway, which is the most of any
dirt late model driver. Joey Kramer and Jerry Rice line up next
with 30 laps led each. Sitting forth is Jeep VanWormer with 28
laps. Fifth is occupied by Brian Birkhofer and Steve Francis,
each with 25 laps led. Seventh goes to Duane Chamberlain and Brian
Ruhlman, who have led 24 laps a piece. Matt Miller sits ninth
with 21 laps, and rounding out the top ten is Dale McDowell with
20 laps.
9/01/03: Over 5
inches of rain have fallen in western Ohio over this holiday weekend,
and that has made the Eldora Speedway a very soggy area. It looks
as if Mother Nature is getting all the wet stuff out of her system
right now however, as the early forecast for this weekend has
Thursday through Sunday looking bright and sunny! There are several
teams already on the Eldora grounds, many of whom just stayed
over after last nights rainout. Some of those early birds include
Brandon Kinzer, Jerry Rice, Chuckie May, Scott James, Dennis Potridge,
and a host of others.
If you are planning on camping on the Eldora
Speedway grounds this weekend, please keep in mind the following
things... There is currently no rule pertaining to the roping
off of camping areas, but everyone is encouraged to consider other
'campers' when roping off areas. If everyone continues to be cooperative
and courteous, the present allowance of roping off areas will
continue.
8/28/03: Doc Lehman
is back in action with his annual World 100 preview. Along with
the feature story, the preview is also full of stats, figures,

8/25/03: The World
100 has come a long way since it's inaugural race back in 1971.
Bruce Gould of Milford, Ohio, took home a "big" winner's
check of $4,000 for that first World 100 victory. This September
7th, however, one lucky driver will take home a healthy $36,000
for winning the 2003 version of the famous World 100. Tabbed as
the most prestigious late model race in the world, well over 200
drivers will take to the 1/2 mile clay oval in Rossburg. If you
would like to order tickets in advance, you can call the ticket
office during regular business hours at (937) 338-3815.
