Rained Out

Sunday Baltes Classic has been canceled due to rain. Over three inches of rain fell on the track earlier this morning. While most of the track drained fairly well, there is a soft stretch in turn one that has not, and crews feel it would surely be a problem area if laps are put on the track tonight… even if we don’t receive any further forecasted rain this afternoon.

To further complicate the decision to race or not is the fact the weather forecast the next two days is not ideal. Any issues that would have developed tonight would almost certainly still a be problem leading into Wednesday’s kickoff to World 100 week.

Patrons who purchased advanced tickets will be refunded within the next two weeks.

Earl Look-A-Like

Though it would be next to impossible to find someone with the same persona as the late, great Eldora Speedway founder, Earl Baltes, does anyone carry a strong physical resemblance to the iconic, hall-of-fame promoter?

For the upcoming Baltes Classic on September 4, Eldora Speedway officials are searching for the best Earl Baltes look-a-like! Fans attending the final tune-up for the 52nd running of the World 100 are encouraged to enter the contest.

The winning fan will receive $427.21 (to commemorate Earl’s birthday – 4/27/21), a Baltes Classic victory lane photo op, two World 100 tickets, & pit pass upgrades! The runner-up will walk away with two tickets to the World 100 (Earl’s favorite race), while the third-place finisher will receive two hot dogs (one of Earl’s favorite concession items) from the concession stand.
Fans who are interested in partaking in the contest will have the opportunity to make their way down to the frontstretch during Opening Ceremonies at the Baltes Classic on Sunday, September 4, where the crowd will help decide the winner!
