Miami Valley Hospital and CareFlight To Staff Infield Care Center for Only Dirt Race in NASCAR

ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 16, 2014) — Premier Health/Miami Valley Hospital, Southwestern Ohio’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, will provide health and emergency services to Eldora Speedway’s 1-800 CarCash Mudsummer Classic on Wednesday, July 23.

Recognized by NASCAR Medical Liaisons at the annual NASCAR Summit in Concord, NC with its ‘Teamwork Award’ for the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event on dirt in 2013, Premier Health will support the drivers and team members in the only dirt race contested by any of the three National Series in NASCAR with a team of doctors and nurses. Additionally, one CareFlight helicopter and a mobile intensive care unit (MICU) will be on site for the event.

The Infield Care Center staff will once again work out of the Carolinas MED-1 mobile hospital.

Eldora and Premier Health have a longstanding relationship. CareFlight has stationed aircraft during events at the high-banked half-mile when possible for several years. Eldora has constructed a permanent helipad to enhance Emergency Medical Service at events and the pad is also available to the Volunteer Fire Departments and Rescue Squads of Darke and Mercer counties when needed for landing zone access for non-Eldora emergencies. Members of the Infield Care Center team will be part of over 130 emergency, fire, recovery and rescue professionals participating in certification and training exercises today (Friday, May 16) and tomorrow (Saturday, May 17) at Eldora.
