ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 6, 2016) – Bryan Clauson, from Noblesville, Indiana, survived a late restart and brushed the turn four wall, but won the United States Auto Club Sprint Car Feature at Eldora Speedway during Night #1 of the #LetsRaceTwo Doubleheader Weekend.

Clauson, who started sixth, worked his way through to third through the first 20 laps of the A-Feature. As the leader raced through traffic with 10 laps to go, Clauson first passed Thomas Meseraull for second-place in turn four and then, one lap later, moved past leader C.J. Leary.

“We’ve been so close in the past, it was nice to get it done,” said Clauson, who scored his first USAC Sprint Car Series win at Eldora. “I almost gave it away there – I about put it in the fence there in turn four. It’s kind of tough because you’re really fast, but it’s because your banging the boards up there and sometimes you hit them a little too hard.”

Leary, from Greenfield, Indiana, was second, while Meseraull, Dallas Hewitt and Brady Bacon rounded out the top-five.

There was just one accident in the USAC Sprint Car A-Feature, as defending series champion, Robert Ballou, from Rocklin, California, tumbled in turn two and was hit by Jarett Andretti of Mooresville, N.C., which just three laps to go. Neither driver was injured.

The second half of the #LetsRaceTwo saw Kerry Madsen, who hails from Australia, but lives in Knoxville, Iowa, charge from the pole position to lead all 30 laps of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series A-Feature.

“The car was unbelievable,” Madsen said. “It was a great win. The guys worked so hard. We’ve been pulling our hair out trying to get fast and it’s nice to get it done tonight. When I got to lapped cars, I couldn’t quite whip around them and had to change my line a bit. But it was a great win.”

Chad Kemenah, from Findley, Ohio, started 10th and finished a close second, while David Gravel, from Watertown, Connecticut pulled to third. Daryn Pittman was fourth and Kraig Kinser, who started 12th, was fifth.

Clauson finished 11th in his second race of the night.

During qualifying veteran Dave Blaney hit the turn one wall and flipped several times before his car landed in turn two.

He was transported via ground to a local hospital but was released later in the night.

The racing at Eldora continues on Saturday, May 7 with the Final Night of the #LetsRaceTwo Doubleheader Weekend featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and the USAC National Sprint Cars.
