During the heart of the racing schedule each season, Eldora employs nearly 200 people. Many of the positions are part-time and seasonal. They include positions within concessions, maintenance, clean up, race-day operations, marketing, security, ticket sales and more. Candidates must be available to work variable and flexible hours.

PIT STEWARD

    As a Pit Steward, the successful candidate(s) will work during Eldora race events in the Pit Area, and become a member of an existing team. The position entails varying roles on Eldora race days; including, but not limited to:

  • parking race haulers
  • communicating with race teams
  • directing pit and pedestrian traffic as needed
  • assisting with track preparation if needed
  • Knowledge of the racing environment and event structure is helpful, but not required. Strong communication skills, an even temperament and the ability to follow instructions and work as a team player are important. The candidate must be able to read, understand and follow instructions.

    Experience in the operation of off-road equipment and/or an all-terrain vehicle is helpful.

CONCESSIONS

    Concessions area work for select Eldora race events could include, but not be limited to, sandwich wrappers, grill cooks, fry cooks and cashiers. Successful candidates should have good listening and observation skills, with the ability to react quickly and efficiently during periods of high food and drink demand. Candidate must be available to work long hours and weekends. This is a fast-paced environment. Cashiers much be able to make change quickly and accurately.

CREDENTIAL/REGISTRATION ASSISTANT(S)

    The primary responsibility of the Credential/Registration Assistant(s) is the registration of participants into the restricted area, the collection of appropriate fees and issuing proper credentials. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for learning, understanding and enforcing the Eldora Credential Policy in a consistent, timely and professional manner. The position entails varying roles on Eldora race days; including, but not limited to:

  • providing a prompt, efficient and courteous customer experience
  • responding to and resolving customer requests and concerns with excellent customer and communication skills
  • cash handling skills
  • additional tasks as instructed

RACE FUEL SALES

    As the Race Fuel Sales Person, the successful candidate will work during Eldora race events and become a member of an existing team.

    The position involves the dispensing of racing fuels into containers supplied by the race teams and the collection of money for the dispensed fuel.

    The candidate must be skilled in handling cash transactions, dependable and have general math skills. Additionally, the candidate must be able to pay attention to details and possess customer service skills.

    Knowledge of the racing environment and event structure is helpful, but not required.

PIT / RESTRICTED ENTRANCE GUARD

    This primary responsibility is to check and validate credentials for all patrons, drivers, teams, haulers, and vehicles entering the restricted pit area. Position entails varying requirements on Eldora race days; including, but not limited to:

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with Eldora’s patrons and staff while remaining attentive and positive. Outgoing and strong communications skills.
  • Ability to maintain a firm but positive attitude under pressure situations and large crowds. This includes enforcing all Eldora’s policies.
  • Ability to work outdoors and subject to weather conditions while standing, walking and climbing.
  • Must be able to work all major events, this includes the Thursday night events.

DRAW STATION LIAISON

    The Draw Station Liaison will work closely with the Scoring Team and Pit Stewards to obtain and disseminate competitor and race event information. The successful candidate should have strong interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy to work effectively with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.

    The candidate must be skilled in handling cash transactions and have general math skills. Basic computer skills are necessary.

    Knowledge of the racing environment and event structure is helpful, but not required.

TRACK PREPARATION CREW

    The primary responsibilities of this position include helping the track crew with preparation of the surface. Candidate must be able to operate tractors and other large machinery. Work may include both weekday and weekend.

USHER/CUSTOMER SERVICE

    The primary responsibility of this position is to help patrons locate their seats and help enforce awareness of Eldora’s policies; such as no smoking, no alcohol sections, no standing areas, etc. Position entails varying requirements on Eldora race days; including, but not limited to:

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with Eldora’s patrons and staff while remaining attentive and positive. Outgoing and strong communications skills.
  • Monitoring of the crowds and facility for any problems and handling these problems with a courtesy, positive, pro-active approach.
  • Ability to work outdoors and subject to weather conditions while standing, walking and climbing.
  • Must be able to work all major events, this includes the Thursday night events.

PROGRAM SELLER(S)

    The Program Seller(s) will work at select Eldora events to aggressively sell Eldora produced souvenir programs to the event attendees, on a commissioned sales basis.

    This is a fast-paced environment and the successful candidate(s) should be self-motivated, be well groomed, have pleasant communication skills and be skilled in handling cash transactions. The Program Seller(s) will be expected to canvass the Eldora grounds for maximum sales results.

50/50 SELLER(S)

    The 50/50 Seller is a volunteer position that provides the opportunity to give back to local non-for-profit organizations and the Tony Stewart Foundation. The successful candidate(s) should be upbeat, well groomed and highly motivated for the cause. The ability to handle cash transactions and be accountable to a sales manifest is required and the minimum age for a 50/50 Seller is 18.
