WORLD 100 QUALIFYING POSTPONED TO SATURDAY AFTERNOON

SAT (9:15 AM) – The track crew is now working the surface. Teams are beginning to unload their cars again the pit area. We are on schedule for Gate Opening at 10:00 and Driver Meeting at 11:00 this morning.  Track crew estimates we should be ready for Hot Laps at 12:00 PM (EST).

Severe thunderstorms and persistent rains washed out Friday’s portion of the 42nd annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway, after 45 of the 123 cars on hand had taken their turn against the timing clocks.   As a result, the track officials have announced contingency plans for Saturday.

The admission gates will open at 10:00, with the driver meeting at 11:00 a.m. to review the format for Saturday’s chase for the fabled globed trophy and the $45,000 victory check.   Once the track prep is completed, the cars will undergo one more practice session, followed by one-round of timed qualifying laps.

At the time of the weather cancellation, Chris Madden was atop the qualifying charts with a clocked of 15.499 seconds around the historic .500-mile clay oval.   That timed effort has been eliminated, as all cars will now have to return to the qualifying lanes.

Saturday night’s time schedule remains intact at this point, with the qualifying heat races slated to take the green flag at 7 p.m., followed by the B-Features/Scrambles and the century grind.
