50th Annual World 100 Rescheduled to September 2021

Eldora and FloSports to Present the “Intercontinental Classic” Live on FloRacing

ROSSBURG, Ohio (August 12, 2020) – Eldora Speedway officials have announced the 50th World 100 has been rescheduled to early September 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis.

The legendary half-mile dirt oval’s biggest and most-famous event was scheduled for September 10-11-12.

Despite Governor Mike DeWine and the State of Ohio’s tremendous resolve to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the Ohio Department of Health’s orders which restrict mass gatherings and prohibit spectators from grandstand events at large venues remain in effect.
Fans who purchased reserved seats, general admission tickets and campsites for the 50th World 100 should retain their tickets, camping credentials and receipts at this time. Officials will communicate updated event information direct to patron accounts as it becomes available, on www.EldoraSpeedway.com and via Eldora’s official social channels. While the grandstands and campgrounds remain closed to spectators, competitor-based auto racing is an approved activity in Ohio and Eldora’s famed high-banks will be open to Dirt Late Model racing’s superstars on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, September 10-11-12.

Eldora Speedway and official live streaming partner, FloRacing, are collaborating to present the “Intercontinental Classic” boasting over $200,000 in posted awards.

The three-day event will consist of full racing programs on both Thursday and Friday leading up to $10,000-to-win 25-lap finales. Utilizing Eldora’s Every Lap Matters™ format, the cumulative point totals from the preliminary nights will seed Saturday’s heat races. The final night will feature heat races, B-Features, and culminate in a $50,000-to-win 67-lap Championship Feature.

Like June’s “Dirt Late Model Stream,” the “Intercontinental Classic” will again utilize an invitational roster made up of national, regional, and local stars from across the country. Fans can expect to see drivers from the ranks of DIRTcar; the Summernationals; the Southern Nationals Tour; the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series; the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series; and Eldora’s local and regional favorites.

FloRacing will present a live NCAA Tournament-style “Selection Show” this coming Monday, August 17th. Hosted by Michael Rigsby from the FloSports studios, the show will feature expert analysis, video, stats, interviews, and a full breakdown of those drivers who have been awarded guaranteed entry. The details on the popular Social Media Fan Vote will also be released during the program. The Intercontinental Classic Selection Show will be live on FloRacing Monday, August 17th at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT (9 p.m. Newfoundland).

FloRacing is once again pulling out all the stops for the production of the event. Fans watching at home or from their favorite device will hear the action called by all of the voices they are accustomed to hearing on Eldora’s PA speakers. A large-scale event production, complete with multiple-camera angles, instant replays and live scoring is planned as Eldora and FloRacing endeavor to give fans watching at home an experience similar to what they see on Eldora’s giant turn two video board. In addition to all of FloRacing’s motorsports offerings, subscribers also receive complete access to the entire FloSports network of verticals ranging from cycling, wrestling, football, baseball, softball, grappling and more. Best of all, subscribers can watch the races across all screens by downloading the FloSports app on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Chromecast.

Eldora officials continue to use their “When We Know, You’ll Know” policy to share event-related information with fans as soon as possible. Updates will be posted on www.EldoraSpeedway.com, directly to the patron accounts of fans who have purchased ticket and campsites, the Eldora Speedway email newsletter, and to the official Eldora Speedway accounts on social channels Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.

PLEASE NOTE: As a non-spectator event, access to the Intercontinental Classic will be restricted to working track and series officials, pre-approved racers and their working pit crews, ambulance and EMS responders, the track fire and safety team, and members of the broadcast production team. All participants will be required to follow a defined safety protocol, including but not limited to pre-entry medical screening, wear mandatory cloth face coverings, and maintain social distancing of six feet. The event is being planned in accordance with the latest CDC, OHSA, federal, state and local guidance. State of Ohio law and Ohio Department of Health orders are enforced by local and state authorities.
