ELDORA SPEEDWAY BALLROOM HOSTED COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE ON JUNE 18

Eldora Tickets and Merchandise Given Out; Donors Can Win A Trip To Hawaii

The Community Blood Center blood drive was setup inside the historic Eldora Ballroom on June 18.

ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 18, 2015) – Eldora Speedway played host to a community blood drive Thursday (June 18). It was held in the Eldora Ballroom, the original dance hall that sits at the Speedway’s main entrance.

The Community Blood Center out of Dayton, Ohio, organized the blood drive and has done so for several years at Eldora.

“You can give blood every eight weeks,” said Dana Puterbaugh, from the County Community Blood Center. “We have other blood drives in this area, but this is one of our eight week rotations that we go to.”

The drive has 68 slots available in the four hour period and officials were hoping to get to 38, if not more via walk ins.

After they donated blood, donors had their choice between Eldora Speedway t-shirts, can cozies and key chains. They were also entered in a drawing with Kings Royal tickets being given to the grand prize winner. Other tickets were also available for the Baltes Classic, UMP DIRTcar Fall Nationals and the UNOH Sprintacular.

Everyone that gives blood between May 4 and August 28, is eligible to win two tickets to Hawaii. Full details are available at www.givingblood.org.

About Community Blood Center:
Community Blood Center (CBC) began operation in September 1964 in the Fidelity Medical Building on South Main Street in Dayton. CBC was established to meet the growing demand for a centralized system of blood banking that would better serve patient blood needs in the Dayton area. CBC initially supplied two Dayton area hospitals, but by 1965 it had expanded to provide the blood needs for all general hospitals in Dayton. Since 1967 CBC has grown to its present service area of 24 hospitals in 15 counties with an entirely blood volunteer donor base. CBC is a 501(c) 3, not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporation. Operating income is derived from the charges made to the hospitals for blood and blood products, transfusions and for patient services and tests, as well as the distribution of tissue to hospitals and physicians. CBC/CTS receive guidance from an all-volunteer board of trustees and advisory groups. Many of the 28 board members are associated with CBC’s service hospitals or are community members who represent the interests of donors, patients, and physicians who rely on CBC/CTS services.
