PARDO, TRENT SPLIT ELDORA STOCK DOUBLE FEATURES; RUHLMAN RULES THE MODS

Morris Wins Vores Compact Series Event on Exciting Saturday Night Speedfest at Eldora

ROSSBURG, Ohio (April 23, 2016) – Paul Pardo nearly won five consecutive Eldora stock car A-Main’s.

He scored his fourth straight win in the first A-Main at Eldora Speedway’s Saturday Night Speedfest and finished runner-up to Rob Trent in the second A-Feature.

In the first A-Main, it appeared as though his winning streak was going to end as Earnie Woodard, from Georgetown, Kentucky, had built up a large lead from his starting position outside the front row.

But a caution came out with six laps to go and Pardo, from New Paris, Ohio restarted second and slid below Woodard and barely cleared him exiting turn two.

Despite two more cautions, Pardo held on to win his fourth straight victory beating Woodard. Pardo, who started sixth, won the double feature last August and scored a victory in last week’s season opener.

“I can’t believe it,” Pardo said. “We have a great car. My crew does so well. I have one heck of a hot rod underneath me. All I do is drive it.”

Jordan Conover, who started seventh, finished third, while Donnie Jeschke and Frank Paladino rounded out the top-five of the first A-Main.

With the field inverted in the second A-Main, Pardo started 18th and patiently worked his way up to sixth when a caution flew midway through the race. On the restart he quickly moved up to second and was giving chase when a caution came out with two laps to go.

Pardo made a valiant charge toward first, but couldn’t get around Trent.

“That’s a pretty tough job (to hold off Pardo),” Trent said. “We just laid on the gas and were able to stay out in front him.”

Conover finished third again, while Paladino finished fourth after starting 14th. Casey Barr was fifth.

In the UMP Modified division, Brian Ruhlman held off Jonathan Taylor on a mid-race restart and a late charge by Jeff Koz to win A-Main. It was his 34th victory at Eldora.

“It was really good,” said Ruhlman, who started on pole and hails from Clark Lake, Michigan. “We found some stuff at Volusia (Florida) and this place is very similar. I had a lot of fun tonight.”

Koz, from Lima, Ohio, was second, while Taylor, Andy Bibler and Joel Dick rounded out the top five.

Matthew Morris, who started eighth took the lead from pole-sitter Chris Jennings in turn one on lap seven and led the rest of the way to win the Vores Compact Series.

“This is my first race in this series,” Morris said. “I travel around a lot to dirt tracks. This is a dream and a bucket list item. It’s been circled on my calendar since they put it on there.”

Jake Steraka, who started sixth, finished second, while Justin Brown was third. Jennings was fourth, while David Yoder ended up fifth.

The racing at Eldora continues on Friday and Saturday May 6-7 with the #LetsRaceTwo Doubleheader Weekend featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and the USAC National Sprint Cars.

Admission gates will open at 2 p.m. (EDT), with hot laps 6 p.m. and a complete racing program beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be bought at www.EldoraSpeedway.com, by phone at (937) 338-3815 or at the box office at the race track. It’s $28 for adults and kids 12 and under are free.
