ELDORA NAMED DIRTCAR UMP TRACK OF THE YEAR FOR 2015

Commitment to Fans & Competitors at Dirt Late Model Dream, World 100 and UMP Fall Nationals Secure Honor

ROSSBURG, Ohio (January 22, 2016) – Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, has been awarded DIRTcar UMP Track of the Year for the 2015 season.

Since its inception, DIRTcar, then United Midwestern Promoters (UMP), has sanctioned the highly successful Dirt Late Model Dream by Ferris Mowers, the prestigious World 100 and the DIRTcar Fall Nationals. At the World 100, rain washed out Friday’s races, forcing a doubleheader on Saturday. At the UMP Fall Nationals, Hurricane Joaquin forced Eldora officials to expedite the second night to a Features-only format before waiting out a day of rain to race on Sunday. Overcoming all this, the racing was excellent at all events, which made fans, drivers and teams happy.

“Eldora Speedway exemplifies the best of dirt track racing in the United States and stood out in 2015 for its commitment to drivers, teams and dedicated fans,” said Sam Driggers, DIRTcar UMP director, series and sanctioning. “Throughout the season, Eldora went above and beyond to help DIRTcar racing and advance grassroots motorsports. With blockbuster events like the World 100 and the Dream, the track is continually pushing the bounds on great promoting. It is for those reasons and more that we are excited to award Eldora with the 2015 DIRTcar UMP Track of the Year award.”

This is the first DIRTcar UMP Track of the Year award for Eldora since Tony Stewart took ownership in 2004.

In March of 2015, officials from SPEED SPORT Magazine and NationalSpeedSportNews.com, America’s trusted motorsports authority since 1934, announced that their readers voted Eldora as ‘My Favorite Track’ for the fourth consecutive year.

“This is a true honor for everyone here on our team at Eldora and that includes our Late Model, Modified and Stock teams,” said Roger Slack, Eldora Speedway general manager. “Every top dirt track in the country is sanctioned by DIRTcar or DIRTcar Northeast and there are so many that are deserving especially with the weather that everyone struggled through last year. We very much look forward to celebrating Saturday night at our awards banquet our drivers, teams and 500 guests from across the Midwest and Canada.”
